Discuss Removal of Central Line

Table of Contents
Next Topic: Hospital Discharge

As your recovery progresses, your care team may begin discussing the possibility of removing your central line.

This decision depends on several factors, including:

  • Your age and overall health

  • How many lab tests or treatments are still needed

  • How well is your body recovering

  • Risk of infection or complications

  • Your personal preferences and comfort

If line removal is important to you, let your care team know. It’s okay to bring it up—they’ll work with you to decide when the timing is right and ensure the process is safe.
