The Engraft Design Session held on June 23-24, 2025, at The Lytle Park Hotel in Cincinnati focused on advancing key initiatives within the Engraft network. The session began with a patient and caregiver dinner on June 22, fostering engagement with those directly impacted by bone marrow transplant outcomes. The following morning included a board meeting, where updates were shared, and leadership roles were finalized.

The core discussions on June 23 opened with a welcome and introductions, followed by an overview of Engraft’s progress and a patient story that grounded the session in lived experience. The morning focused on chronic graft-versus-host disease (cGVHD) screening, with presentations on pre-work, timing, and tool development. Participants examined how screening could be standardized and integrated into practice, while also reflecting on the network’s broader mission and SMART Aim. The afternoon shifted toward building infrastructure, including EPIC informatics tools, defining key drivers, and drafting the network AIM. The day concluded with collaborative energy carried into informal networking at the Cincinnati Reds vs Yankees game, fostering connection across centers.

On June 24, the session continued with measurement strategies and research updates, highlighting opportunities for centralized consent models, patient-reported outcomes, and upcoming grant deadlines. Data and analytics were a major focus, with tutorials on dashboards and updates on REDCap onboarding and PowerBI builds. Center progress on line removal was shared, reinforcing the importance of consistent practices across sites. In the afternoon, participants worked in breakout groups to develop Key Driver Diagrams and Process Maps for cGVHD screening, while a parallel patient and caregiver session advanced the BMT Journey Map, capturing stage-specific needs, myths, and educational opportunities. The day wrapped up with discussions on implementing informatics tools and line removal office hours, providing space for deeper technical and operational planning.

This design session solidified Engraft’s commitment to reducing treatment-related morbidity and mortality, advancing cGVHD screening, and integrating patient and caregiver perspectives into every initiative. By combining structured project development with collaborative learning, the network strengthened its foundation for innovation, research, and quality improvement across transplant and cellular therapy.
